Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
The Buddhist teacher, Pema Chodron here is addressing the essence of generosity. She tells us it means letting go. Usually when we think of generosity, we think of a giver and a receiver, subject and object, something we give, something that is received. Pema Chodron here says letting go is the key to true generosity. Letting go means, we don't need gratitude or appreciation for what is given. There is no expectation. And in this there's a healing of the separation of giver and receiver. This is true generosity, a generosity of spirit that is boundless. How wonderful. What a thing to aspire to and practice in our lives.
