In this video, I share my reaction to a First Comics News article that introduced me to Planet Death #1, a 64-page sci-fi comic from Bad Idea Comics. Written by Derek Kolstad (John Wick creator) and Robert Venditti (Superman ’78, Green Lantern), with art by Tomas Giorello (Star Wars, Conan), it follows soldier Corporal Scott’s lone mission to destroy a world-ending weapon on an alien planet. As a self-proclaimed art guy, I’m drawn to the well-proportioned artwork shown in the article, but I’m clear that the story needs to be at least decent to keep me reading in. At The $5.99 price for 64 pages feels like a steal, and I’m thinking about hitting up a local comic shop to check it out. I also talk about share my growing interest in independent comics and how they’re stepping up with solid quality stories and art, possibly hinting at a comic book renaissance. Check out the First Comics News article linked below for more details!
