Holiday? NUNAVUT DAY – What is it celebrating? 🇨🇦❄️
Nunavut Day is celebrated every year on July 9th and commemorates the historic founding of the Canadian territory of Nunavut in 1993 – which came into effect on April 1st, 1999.

Historical background:

On July 9th, 1993, the "Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Act" was passed by the Canadian Parliament.

This agreement enabled the Inuit to achieve cultural, political, and economic self-determination – in a region that makes up almost one-fifth of Canada!

Nunavut thus became the first territory in Canada with a majority Indigenous self-government.

Today, the people of Nunavut celebrate their identity, language (Inuktitut), art, music – and, of course, pride in their history.

"The north calls – and Goldie answers with high heels."

A 32-minute social movie that first blows us into the wind, the vastness, and wisdom of the Arctic – through:

Geo Perspective's documentary about real life in Canada's frosty communities.

Tourism videos that are more like hot tea than commercials – full of emotion, respect, and expansiveness.

And then?
A cultural climate jump with Canadian musician Goldie Boutilier, who herself carries a bit of Nunavut in her heart:

frosty past, brilliant style, a real voice.

From:

"Cowboy Gangster Politician"

to "The Actress"

to "The Angel and the Saint,"
Goldie accompanies us through contradictions, stage fog, and emotional battles – a contrast to the ice, but just as moving.

End credits: Concert dates instead of credits.

Service, soul, sound. Love it.

"This is me. And this is exactly where my glamour begins."

YT: Description
Goldie Boutilier is a Canadian singer and songwriter. Raised on the music of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, Goldie's music is known for its cinematic quality and exploration of tragic romance, glamour, and melancholy. Goldie first performed at the age of five, using her family's junkyard as a rehearsal space, and signed her first record deal with Interscope Records at the age of 21. A revolving door of labels and aliases later, Goldie returned to her hometown roots and re-established herself as an alt-country star, with a nod to 1950s and 1960s Americana.

Her upcoming EP, "The Actress," promises to be her best release yet. The writing process sent her on a journey of integrity, purity, vulnerability, and a healing return to herself. These are Goldie's true stories about the power struggles to control her own career, how she is exploited by the man she loves, how much she can sacrifice for her dreams, and how she finds the strength to keep going despite it all.
