Relaxing Doves and Music

Made in Southern California...

Three generations of my family fed a few generations of city mourning doves. Other dove families never overwhelmed the balcony to eat; they each had their own little circles, spreading out and respecting one another, even respecting other bird species. The group we fed spent their downtime in a single tree, just feet from the building's entrance. I don't think other residents ever noticed a family of doves living there or knew the doves were observing them as they went about their daily lives. People would hurry off early in the morning by foot or car to go to work, then return to their human nest to gather, eat meals, and rest. Everywhere I went in West LA, I noticed a mourning couple or a small group hanging out. The only times I ever saw several groups together was when I entered commercial parking garages. Larger groups would be perched on exposed pipes above the cars, or I'd see them quietly perched above busy streets and alleys on power lines, just sunbathing and watching humans. I think they really respect humans and can relate.
