(Short cuts) Materialism and Hating Hedonistic Hugh Hefner

In the first issue of Playboy Magazine Hugh Hefner wrote: "Affairs of state will be out of our province. We don't expect to solve any world problems or prove any great moral truths. If we are able to give the American male a few extra laughs and a little diversion from the anxieties of the Atomic age, we'll feel we've justified our existence."
If Hef had stuck to that pronouncement the company he founded would still have millions of key-holders and subscribers thruout the USA. In 1963 his magazine was still publishing articles on the type of guns you should own and how to use them. But 10 years after that the magazine had evolved into a propaganda arm of the American left.
What Hef never figured out was that leftism hates his Magazine and his values more than Christians do. And most of the men who liked his original idea for entertainment in print and in a club atmosphere were either apolitical or centrists or ... God forbid ... leaned to the right.
Recently the American version of Playboy magazine was re-introduced to the public, and the centerfold was a nude female who reminded readers of the girl next door from a bygone era.
Will it catch on with men like it once did? Only time will tell.
