The decommissioned amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA-1) is towed back to the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility following completion of SALVEX 24-001 at Ford Island, Hawaii.

The two-week Naval Sea Systems Command exercise involved 250 personnel—including Sailors, civilians, and contractors from Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard & IMF. Through simulated battle damage scenarios, teams applied advanced repair solutions using emerging technologies designed to enhance repair speed and efficiency. The operation highlighted the success of public-private partnerships in accelerating naval maintenance capabilities.
