Texas floods: at least 68 killed as search for missing girls continues

The young girls staying in the summer camp, Camp Mystic, would have been sleeping in cabins situated in a low lying area just 200 metres from the Guadalupe river before more than a foot of rain fell in a couple of hours, and the river burst its banks in the early hours of Friday morning.

The death toll continues to rise with at least 68 now confirmed to have died - 21 of those were children.

As the frantic search and rescue continues, people are beginning to question why the authorities were so unprepared.
