Brockton Man Fatally Shot Outside BJ’s in Dedham, Another Victim Hospitalized
A tragic shooting in the early hours of Wednesday morning has left one man dead and another wounded in the parking lot of a BJ’s Wholesale Club in Dedham, Massachusetts.
Authorities have identified the deceased as 21-year-old Jaylani Cole of Brockton. Emergency responders arrived at the scene on Providence Highway shortly before 1 a.m. to find two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Cole was pronounced dead at the scene, while the second victim was rushed to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting prompted a large-scale police investigation, with crime scene tape surrounding the parking lot for much of the morning. Dedham police, alongside the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office, are actively investigating the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and officials have not released any information regarding potential suspects or motives.
Authorities are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to come forward as they work to piece together the events that led to the fatal confrontation.
The BJ’s location reopened later in the day, but the community remains shaken by the violence that unfolded in what is typically a quiet commercial area.
