Active shooter killed in attempt to ambush Border Patrol agents in Texas

An armed attacker in tactical gear opened fire on Border Patrol agents outside a Border Patrol annex in McAllen, Texas, on Monday.

Agents and local police returned fire, killing the gunman.

No federal agents were injured, but a McAllen police officer was shot and is in stable condition.

Authorities believe the attack was a targeted ambush on Border Patrol.

The FBI is leading the investigation, Fox News has reported.

The incident follows another shooting days earlier in Texas, where an officer was wounded near an ICE detention facility; several suspects in that case were arrested.
