Thank you for joining us on our hike and exploration of Hibernia Mines. We thought you might like a little fact.

Hibernia mines in Rockaway Township, New Jersey, were a key supplier of iron ore for munitions during the American Revolutionary War. Specifically, the Adventure Furnace, later renamed Hibernia Furnace, was built around 1765 and provided shot and ordnance for the Continental Army, playing a vital role in the war effort.

Later it played a role as a major iron producer and now a place for bats to hibernate!
