Independence Day Weekend Paddling

I didn’t get any proper whitewater in this weekend, but had a great time kayaking to celebrate the greatest country on Earth’s Birthday. Saturday, the 5th, took the family down to do the (Lower) Little River between Hwy 401 and SR 217 (Mill Rd). The accesses here were not family friendly at all and a little scary to get to and from the river, but we survived and enjoyed one of the most interesting rivers I’ve run in the state without any real rapids. The kids had fun and so did the adults.

Sunday, it rained all day, so I took my son with me to check out if there was any water in the rapid behind my neighborhood. There wasn’t, but I practiced a few rolls, you know…for USA. Also cleared a tree that’s been in the way of running the rapid proper for next time. Probably doesn’t make for the greatest video, but we had fun and wanted to remember. Happy Independence Day to all and I hope others got out to celebrate USA.
