‘World’s largest’ time capsule opened in Nebraska 50 years later

Items from what was once called the “world’s largest time capsule,” sealed in 1975 in Nebraska, went on display Friday, attracting hundreds eager to see decades-old treasures.

The capsule contained thousands of letters, personal mementos, a teal suit, and even a yellow Chevy Vega.

Though some items were damaged by moisture, most were preserved.
The project was the vision of Harold Davisson, who wanted future generations to remember 1975, NBC News has reported.

Visitors retrieved family artifacts and reflected on the passage of time, with plans underway to create a permanent exhibit to preserve the memories.
