Speaking up

We pay for silence. The price of not speaking up, of not taking a step or making a change, is huge: we pay with our lives.

The gift of speaking is precious: the ability to speak up and allow speech to flow freely, to say what comes out and let it flow into the world. Through that act of communication, we meet others and hear them, and that gift is precious.

We can still hear those who lived a long time ago; they are with us. Their words and speech touch us. We are moved by the vibrations of those who walked this planet hundreds or thousands of years ago—we can hear them speaking to us.

Even though they did not know what would unfold, or how it would happen, they offered the gift of openning up and letting their soul and spirit be seen and heard.

So yes, we pay for that with our lives. Having that choice is a privilege.

Sometimes silence can mean as much, if not more so, as long as we remember who is being silent. Presence can be felt even without words. The act of communication does not have to be just words, gestures, or movements; it can also be being with—being together, listening and hearing, and allowing oneself to be moved.
