99% of Christians STRUGGLE With This DIFFICULT Bible Verse… (This Will HELP)

1 Samuel 15:3 is one of the most difficult and often misunderstood verses in the Bible. God commands Saul to "utterly destroy" the Amalekites—including men, women, children, and infants. At first glance, this seems deeply troubling, especially from a modern moral perspective.

In this video, we take a closer look at the historical, cultural, and theological context behind this verse. Who were the Amalekites? Why did God command such a severe judgment? When we understand that the Amalekites had been relentlessly attacking Israel—functioning much like terrorists—and that God had patiently delayed judgment for over 400 years despite their abominable practices, the picture begins to shift.

We also explore how this language fits within the literary style of ancient Near Eastern war hyperbole—a common way of describing total victory, not necessarily a literal description of every action taken. These “women, children, and infants” may have been part of a broader societal group involved in or supporting ongoing aggression, and like in modern warfare, would have been tragic casualties rather than individual targets.

This is not an easy passage, but it is one that, when studied carefully, can lead to deeper understanding rather than dismissal. Join us as we unpack this difficult text with honesty, compassion, and a commitment to biblical truth.
