Turkey: Wildfires Rage In Izmir, Antalya; Kurdish Group Takes Responsibility | Planet Pulse | N18G

Massive wildfires continue to burn across western Türkiye, forcing over 50,000 people to evacuate as an intense heatwave grips the region. The fires, fanned by powerful winds reaching up to 100 kph, have ravaged villages and neighbourhoods in Izmir, Hatay, Kuyucak and Doganbey. They have also spread to the resort town of Antalya and forests outside Istanbul. More than 42,000 residents were displaced from Izmir alone. Over 1,000 firefighters, backed by 11 aircraft and 27 helicopters, are battling the blazes. Homes have been reduced to ashes, flights from Izmir airport were temporarily suspended and emotional scenes unfolded as families fled lifelong memories. A Kurdish militant group has claimed responsibility for the fires.
