Trees

When we plant trees, we imagine who might sit under them in years to come, but we don’t know. We take care of growing trees day after day out of love and care for what is already here, and for what might or might not come. Taking care, caring with love.

With our limited human minds, it’s impossible to grasp the Ungraspable. So when we move into the Unknown and take one step after another without knowing what will happen, the best we can do is keep trying and trust that whatever happens, everything will somehow be all right. Often, it’s impossible to know the outcome, and trying to predict it might be ineffective. What is effective is taking the next step, and then another, then another, and supporting those around us who are also taking their steps and meeting the Unknown in their own way. On that collective journey, each of us is meeting That what can’t be met, and yet touching us and is with us.

If we put aside our ideas and images of the Unknowable and allow ourselves to be led and taken care of—even when the mind immediately screams out of fear or imagines the worst—then hope, faith, and trust are required. They are needed by those who dare to leave their comfort zones, step into the unknown and explore what lies beyond—meeting Life.

As we support each other on the journey, we do what we can and what we cannot not do. Ultimately, when cornered, that’s often the only choice: Being, Real, relying on Real, finding support in Real. And from here, now, we discover what the next available step is and can be made, what’s next?
