In the Back of My Mind

I walked past the place where we first met,
The rain was falling, my shoes were wet.
But I felt warm, like you were near,
Like time had brought your laughter here.

That corner booth, the old café,
Still smells like those forgotten days.
You stirred your tea, you smiled so wide,
And every part of me came alive.

You're still there, in the back of my mind,
Frozen in a sweeter time.
Like a song that never fades,
A photograph that time won't trade.
You're not here, but you still shine—
In the back of my mind.

The seasons change, the leaves still fall,
But you're the same in memory’s hall.
No wrinkles touch the face I see,
You’re young forever, there with me.

I’ve tried to move, I’ve tried to grow,
But some things we don’t outgrow.
You’re the whisper in the wind I chase,
The silent tear I can't replace.

You're still there, in the back of my mind,
Where laughter lives and love’s still kind.
Like a light behind closed eyes,
You’re the calm in stormy skies.
No matter how far I climb—
You're there,
In the back of my mind.
