UK Parliament Still Debating Full Sanctions on Israel – But Are Palestinian Lives Being Ignored?

The UK Parliament continues to debate whether full sanctions should be imposed on Israel in response to the ongoing war in Gaza—what many now describe as a genocide. Despite growing international outrage and the immense suffering of Palestinian civilians, the UK government has yet to take decisive action.

Unlike the swift and unified support shown for Ukraine when Russia invaded—including economic sanctions and military aid—there is a noticeable lack of urgency when it comes to Palestine. A vast majority of Labour and Conservative MPs still stand firmly with Israel, showing little concern for the thousands of Palestinian lives lost.

Only a handful of brave MPs have spoken out against Israel’s actions, demanding justice and accountability. But their voices are being drowned out—falling on deaf ears in Parliament. These MPs, who champion the rights of Palestinians, are not receiving the same attention or support that pro-Ukraine voices once did.

Many are now questioning whether prejudice plays a role in this silence. Is the lack of action because, for some in power, Palestinian lives simply don’t matter?
