What is the fourth of July, really?

If the majority of people living under a respective government are stupid, you would have to assume that the government wants them stupid. Why would they tell us the truth about anything? If they wanted you to believe lies, I bet your rank within the society would be based on how strong your belief in the lies. Does it really make a difference if you are stupid or a non believer?
