USS Intrepid Under Fire: Endurance Amid Kamikaze Onslaught

On October 29, 1944, Intrepid suffered its first kamikaze attack when a Japanese airplane struck Gun Tub 10, which was manned by a group of African American gunners. The attack killed ten crew members and injured eight. Here are first-hand accounts of that fateful day.
