When the Political Left Abandoned the Working Class, They Had to Ask Themselves
When the Political Left Abandoned the Working Class, They Had to Ask Themselves, “What is it that we do now?”
They transitioned to representing the intelligentsia, the metropolitan elites, the professional classes. And they became the ones to protect trans people, refugees, and the most vulnerable. In fact, they had to actively create that category of minorities in order to continue legitimizing their political perspective — which had become redundant once they accepted that they no longer cared about working-class people.
I would argue that our political models can no longer be borne of a response to industrialization, i.e., capitalism.
What we need are political systems that respond to our new technology, which is why I always return to decentralization!
