The Fallschirmjäger were the German Luftwaffe’s elite paratrooper units during World War II, known for their daring airborne operations and fierce combat spirit. First used in the invasions of Norway and the Low Countries, they gained fame during the Battle of Crete in 1941 — the first large-scale airborne invasion in history. Though costly, their bravery earned them legendary status. Later in the war, they fought as elite infantry in brutal ground battles, including Monte Cassino and the defense of the Reich. Highly trained and loyal, the Fallschirmjäger symbolized the sharp edge of Nazi Germany’s airborne warfare.
