Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
The Vietnamese Zen Buddhist master Thich Nhat Hanh is sharing with us that real love is not about us. It is given freely with no strings attached. There is no catch to it. It's unconditional. There is no attachment, no clinging, and no need to get anything in return. When we love in such a way, the object of our love, the person that we love recognizes and feels the sincerity and this authentic unattached to love, and this frees them from any need to do anything. This is ultimate form of respect, and everyone is respected and maintains their dignity in such a form of love. What a beautiful thing.
