Wag the Dog (1997) Screening & Discussion | The Fog of War in an Era of False Flags & Psyops

Tonight I'm going to screen Wag the Dog (1997) directed by Barry Levinson & written in part by David Mamet. If you didn't already know about Mamet, you might remember him from my screening of "Homicide" starring Joe Matenga & William H Macy. It's notable that he wrote Wag the Dog. Barry Levinson is also notable having directed Jimmy Hollywood which takes on a similar theme to Wag the Dog but in a Vigilante Justice & Fake News/Media environment.

Wag the Dog on the other hand is about a president whose cabinet hires a Hollywood producer to create a 'fake war' in the midst of a sex scandal leading up to his re-election. This catches the ire of the CIA who was not aware of a war in Albania (the story they make up) & get's involved with their narrative...which is what makes this film compelling to review critically.

I don't consider this film to be benevolent disclosure, frankly, Wag the Dog feels more like a way to muddy the waters on how we perceive the possibility of this happening...a fictional war...or any number of serious events that our gov't and their minions create to sway the population. I don't want to make that worse. I just want to discuss the method being used & why we should be aware of how real this is...granted, this is a comedy, satire...but in reality it's serious as a heart attack & we shouldn't accept it as 'just a plot' as much as a roadmap to how these people think & what they are willing to do to keep us in the dark on who is who & what is truly what.
