Fight for the Top | Starlings & Sparrows Clash for the Fountain Throne

The bird at the beginning was only a baby a few weeks ago. Who knew a simple garden fountain could turn into the hottest real-estate battle in town? Feisty European Starlings and a crew of equally determined House Sparrows (with a few wide-eyed fledglings in tow) jockey for top position at the very top tier of our back-garden bird bath in the midlands of England. Expect flapping wings, splashy turf wars, and a whole lot of chirpy attitude.

Did you know?
European starlings form cooperative “bathing parties” that help keep their feathers clean and parasite-free. House sparrows, on the other hand, tend to guard a chosen perch.
