D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and law enforcement officials will give remarks Thursday morning on safety procedures for Washington's upcoming July 4 festivities — which typically includes a parade, concert on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol and fireworks show.
President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will participate in events at the White House, including a picnic with military families in the afternoon and a celebration in the evening.
Bowser's remarks come nearly a month after Trump's military parade, which the mayor said took days to clean up. Though, despite worries about tanks impacting streets, no major damage was reported.
