JOHNNY JIVE ROCKET NOT AN AMERICAN

I’m an old Canadian cowboy, ridin’ ‘cross the northern plains,

With the Rockies in my rear view, and maple in my veins.

I’ve herded cattle through the snow, under skies so big and blue,

I love this land called Canada, and I’m proud of what we do.

I’m not an American, though I like your stars and stripes,

Your folks are good as gold, but I’m a different type.

From the prairies to the tundra, my heart’s forever true,

I’m a son of the Great White North, and I’m proud of that, it’s true

I’ve danced to fiddles in Alberta, drank stubby beers by the fire,

Watched the northern lights a-dancin’, liftin’ my soul higher.

Your country’s got its beauty, from sea to shinin’ sea,

But Canada’s my home, boys, it’s where I’m meant to be.

I’m not an American, though I like your stars and stripes,

Your folks are good as gold, but I’m a different type.

From the prairies to the tundra, my heart’s forever true,

I’m a son of the Great White North, and I’m proud of that, it’s true.

We share a border, share a laugh, we’re neighbors through and through,

Your apple pie’s mighty fine, but so is ours too

I’ll tip my hat to Uncle Sam, but I’ll sing O Canada loud,

This cowboy’s heart’s in the northland, and I’m damn Canadian proud.

The U.S.A.’s a great friend, but I’m loyal to my roots,

In my old Stetson and my old cowboy boots, I’ll sing my northern truth.

From the prairies to the tundra, my heart’s forever true,

I’m a son of the Great White North, and I’m proud of that, it’s true.
