Be The Dad That Lights a Fire in His Kids

👉Nothing is more heartbreaking...

I see it all the time though.

A dad sitting on a park bench staring at his phone and eating.

His kid runs up to him, tugs on his arm and begs him to play.

The dad barely looks up from his phone and with frustration tells the kid to go play by himself, or find some other kids.

"For Gods sake just go find anyone else but your father!" The father thinks...

The dad doesn't see his child staring at him and feeling deep pangs of hurt.

Because at this point this child is watching his father choose something else over himself.

It's comfort.

It's temporary comfort in the form of food or our mind-numbing phone to take us away from our stressful day.

It's long-term comfort in the form of layers of fat that have accumulated from years of seeking comfort and making excuses instead of eating healthy and exercising.

But our kids love us so damn much and are so hopeful the very next day they think "maybe today is the day dad runs around with me!'

But eventually their heart can only be broken so many times and they'll give up on you.

I've got news for you if you're in your 30s or '40s and you have young kids...

As they get older, you need more energy not less energy.

That is of course if you choose to be involved in their life.

If you check out then you don't need any energy at all and this post isn't for you.

However if you want to be part of your child's life then as they get bigger stronger and faster, the demand on you is more.

Be honest with yourself.

What's your current trajectory over the next 5 years?

If nothing changes, are you going to be in better or worse shape?

Have more or less energy?

Will you be able to do anything with your kids?

Will you have a myriad of new health problems rise up?

Are these things important to you? Or is calming your inner demons with sugar more important
