Lama Dawa Zangpo’s Commentary:
This is a deceptively simple statement by the Buddha. It's very straightforward. Whatever is subject to origination, whatever comes into being, phenomena, things, objects, situations, whatever is caused to occur, whatever is originated, whatever comes into being at the same time is inseparably impermanent. Whatever arises will fade away. Whatever is built up will fall down. Whatever is gathered together will disperse eventually, whatever is born will pass away. This is a very straightforward statement by the Buddha telling it exactly like it is, that this is the way the world works. It's not a bad thing. It's not a good thing. It's just how it is. This is the Buddha's direct, honest statement to us.
