Charles Sanders Peirce and his 1877 article How to Fix Belief. Since Peirce argues for independent thought, I seek to go into what that means in contemporary society. Suitable for beginners to philosophy. Explains 4 ways people broadly use that guide them to make this inference rather than that one. It has some implications in philosophic method, ethics and especially politics.
