Catholic Daily Readings for July 3, 2025 - Feast of Saint Thomas, Apostle

Thomas got to touch the wounds. He felt the nail scars, put his hand in the spear mark, looked directly into eyes of the risen Christ. His faith came with physical proof—undeniable, overwhelming, impossible to argue with.

You've never seen any of that.

Yet Jesus looked past Thomas, past that moment, directly into the future and spoke about you: "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." You are more blessed than Thomas.

This sounds backwards. How could believing without seeing be superior to believing with proof? How could your faith—built on ancient testimonies and interior conviction—be greater than faith supported by touching resurrection wounds?

Because choosing to believe without physical evidence reveals something extraordinary about your soul.

Thomas declared "My Lord and my God" after overwhelming proof made any other response impossible. Your faith is completely different. You choose to trust based on words written two thousand years ago by people you've never met about events you never witnessed.

This is what makes your faith blessed. It demonstrates spiritual capacity that transcends need for physical confirmation. You believe because you recognize divine truth when you encounter it, not because you've been forced to accept it by supernatural proof.

When you organize your life around Jesus—pray to someone you've never seen, follow teachings from someone you've never met, make decisions based on promises you can't verify—you demonstrate faith that amazes heaven.

Thomas needed to touch wounds to believe. You need only to read ancient words and something in your heart responds, "This is true." Every Sunday when you worship someone you've never physically encountered, you prove Jesus' point about the greater blessing.

Thomas eventually carried Gospel to India based on what he personally witnessed. When you share your faith, you're telling people about someone you've never seen, defending truth you've never physically verified.

This is why Jesus calls your faith blessed. You are living proof that human beings can recognize divine truth without requiring supernatural spectacle.
