AI News - July 1
Meta steals six OpenAI employees Cursor is now available on the go The Google education suite gets a massive AI boost, and the robots have still got a lot to learn about kicking a ball. Here's today's AI news. Meta has taken the AI war for talent to a whole new level.

We reported a couple of weeks ago how they were offering huge bounties of 100 million for top names to join the team and now we can start to see the results. Meta have announced 11 new hires to their superintelligence department that include big names from rival AI firms like OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

This has sent OpenAI into a bit of a tailspin, who lost a total of six employees to these lucrative offers. Unsurprisingly, OpenAI is said to be reviewing its compensation structure, but good luck competing with the numbers coming out of Meta. As Cursor has increasingly invested in the use of agents, controlling those agents when you're away from Cursor has become a much needed use case.

Now you can access those agents from the web and from mobile. So whether you're kicking off a new request or just checking in on an existing task, you can do it all while you're away from your desk. Google has integrated Gemini into its education suite, transforming it into a comprehensive AI driven school system.

This integration allows teachers to create a multitude of learning aids, including lesson plans, study guides, quizzes, visual explainers and much more. And it's all free as part of Google Workspaces for Education. Google seems intent on capturing the education space with these amazing free tools, this really could be game changing for teachers.

And finally, China continues to make the robots work for their lunch. This time they're competing in three on three football matches. Booster T1 robots were programmed by four university teams to play fully autonomously, well, kind of. They mostly stumbled around and fell over a lot.

But if you're going to laugh at them, do it now while you still can.
