Left With the Bitter

You said you’d stay, you swore it twice,
Then walked away like it felt nice.
I waited there, a fading flame,
You turned your back and spoke my name.

Bitter... that's what you left behind,
Not a word, not even time.
You gave me hope, then pulled the trigger—
Now I’m alone, and left with the bitter.
Bitter... like your ghost inside my chest,
Like a love that failed the test.
You were sweet, then turned to splinter—
Now all that’s left is cold and bitter.

You smiled like rain but came like drought,
Told me love, then shut me out.
You lit the match, I wore the burn,
And somehow still, I never learned.

Bitter... like a kiss that meant goodbye,
Like the truth dressed up in lies.
You walked out lighter, I grew thinner—
Cracked and dry, just left with the bitter.
Bitter... like the ache I couldn’t name,
Like your voice still feels the same.
You were warm, but now you shimmer—
Fading slow, and leaving bitter.

No I won’t chase, and I won’t plead,
You drained my roots, then watched me bleed.
But I grew strong beneath the shiver—
Built my walls, and made them bitter.

Bitter... like the calm before the scream,
Like waking from a ruined dream.
You broke me soft, but now I’m bigger—
Colder, sharper,
Left with the bitter.
