He didn't actually drive out snakes, but his story is just as Cool. MORE INFO IN THE LINKS BELOW. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Britain in the late 4th century, likely around 385 AD, into a Roman Christian family. At the age of sixteen, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and sold into slavery in Ireland, where he spent six years tending sheep. During this time, Patrick deepened his faith through constant prayer. He eventually escaped after receiving a divine vision and returned to his family in Britain. After becoming a priest and later a bishop, Patrick felt called by God to return to Ireland, this time as a missionary. He devoted the rest of his life to evangelizing the Irish people, converting thousands to Christianity, ordaining priests, and establishing churches and religious communities. Known for his humility, courage, and zeal, Saint Patrick died around 461 AD. His legacy endures in both the Church and Irish culture, celebrated annually on March 17th.
