When comparing 440 vs 432 Hz, cymatics is often invoked, where we often see 432 looking orderly and 440 looking chaotic.

So I decided to give it a try myself. I hooked up a tone generator to my cymascope and generated both tones.

In this video, they look somewhat similar. I repeated the experiment multiple times with different volumes, amplitudes, and drops of water in the dish.

Each time, the patterns were somewhat different looking than the previous set, but each time, they looked similar or even the same as each other. Sometimes they moved, sometimes they didn't.

Cymatics is not an exact science! There are many factors in the equation that determine how a cymaglyph appears.
