Recently, the MK party members have staged robust protests in various communities across KZN and Gauteng, highlighting the issues surrounding illegal immigrants in South Africa. This growing anti-immigrant sentiment is not only a local phenomenon; it has become a significant concern globally. However, the harsh realities faced in South Africa merit a more nuanced approach.

At Makumbirofa Farms, we firmly believe in discouraging individuals from making the perilous journey to South Africa and other parts of the world. Many migrants fall victim to a host of abuses, including human trafficking, once they arrive. The dangers they face are alarming, and the risks are far too great.

We must shift our focus towards empowering the unemployed youth in our communities. These young individuals shouldn’t have to resort to leaving their homes in search of better opportunities. Initiatives that provide capital for starting local projects can transform lives and uplift entire communities. In Zimbabwe, for instance, many youths can tap into the vast arable land available and explore farming, thereby generating sustainable livelihoods.
