Bitter Was the Blessing

You came like a lesson wrapped in gold,
I was too young, too soft, too bold.
You smiled like a saint,
But the devil wore your skin—
I let you in.
I let you win.

Bitter was the blessing you became,
Love that burned without a name.
You were ice beneath the flame,
And I kissed it all the same.
Bitter like the truth beneath your touch,
Sweet was never quite enough.
Now your ghost is all I’m pressing—
And bitter was the blessing.

You left like silence leaves a room—
No goodbye, no scent, no wound.
But empty still can echo loud,
I screamed your name
But not out proud.

Bitter was the blessing you became,
A hidden cut with all the blame.
You gave just enough to maim,
Then left me bleeding in your name.
Bitter like a dream turned dust,
I gave my all, you gave your lust.
Now I rise from your confessing—
And bitter was the blessing.

No flowers now, no midnight calls,
Just colder nights and higher walls.
I thank you for the hollow sting—
You made me hate what love can bring.

Bitter was the blessing you bestowed,
Taught me how to bear alone.
You broke me just to see me grow—
And I did.
But now I know…
Bitter was the only truth you’d show.
