10th Muharram Day of Ashura Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth
Asslamoalaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heart-wrenching and powerful chapters in Islamic history. Occurring in the sacred month of Muharram, this historic event marks the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who stood fearlessly against tyranny and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small group of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Denied water, surrounded by enemies, and offered no escape, they chose martyrdom over surrender, preserving the values of truth, justice, and faith.
This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.
So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of 10th Muharram in this video.
The 10th of Muharram, known as **Ashura**, stands as one of the most tragic and sacred days in Islamic history. It was on this day, in the year 61 AH (680 CE), that **Imam Hussain ibn Ali (A.S)**, the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), along with his family members and loyal companions, were martyred in the burning sands of **Karbala**. This was not just a battle between two armies, but a battle between truth and falsehood, between the forces of justice and the agents of tyranny. Yazid ibn Muawiyah, the corrupt ruler of the time, had demanded allegiance from Imam Hussain (A.S), who refused to bow before injustice, stating clearly: **"A man like me can never give allegiance to a man like Yazid."** With this refusal, Hussain (A.S) stood for the preservation of the true teachings of Islam, even if it meant sacrificing everything.
As the sun rose on the 10th of Muharram, the atmosphere in Karbala was filled with intense anticipation and sorrow. Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions spent the night in prayer, supplication, and preparation for martyrdom. That morning, **Imam Hussain (A.S)** led the **Fajr prayer**, and then gathered his small group — **only 72 brave men** — and reminded them of the righteousness of their cause. He offered them one last chance to leave, saying the enemy wanted only his blood. But not a single soul wavered; each one expressed their unwavering loyalty and willingness to die in his service.
The battle began after **Umar ibn Sa’ad**, the commander of Yazid’s army, launched the attack following failed attempts to force Hussain (A.S) into submission. Imam Hussain’s companions entered the battlefield one by one, fighting valiantly against thousands, knowing well they would not return. **Ali Akbar (A.S)**, the son of Imam Hussain, was among the first to go, displaying such bravery that even the enemy soldiers were struck with awe. When he fell, Hussain (A.S) rushed to his side, weeping and raising his hands in du’a, saying: **“O Allah, bear witness to the martyrdom of the one who most resembled Your Prophet in speech and appearance.”**
Then came the turn of **Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas (A.S)**, the half-brother of Hussain and the standard-bearer of his army. Abbas bravely fought to fetch water for the thirsty children, but was surrounded, both arms severed, and finally martyred beside the river without fulfilling his mission. Imam Hussain (A.S) held the broken body of his brother and wept with pain, knowing the pillar of his army had fallen.
As the day progressed, the camp of Hussain (A.S) became a graveyard of martyrs. One by one, his companions — including old men, youth, and even young children — were killed. Finally, only **Imam Hussain (A.S)** remained. Wounded, weary, and heartbroken, he still stood with unmatched dignity and faith. Carrying his **six-month-old son, Ali Asghar (A.S)**, he approached the enemy and pleaded for water for the infant. In response, **Hurmala**, one of the enemy archers, cruelly shot a three-pronged arrow that struck the baby’s throat, killing him in his father’s arms.
Imam Hussain (A.S), now alone, gave one final sermon, reminding the enemy of his lineage as the grandson of the Prophet and warning them of the wrath of Allah. Then, he entered the battlefield with the bravery of his father, Imam Ali (A.S). Though heavily outnumbered and wounded, he fought fearlessly until he was finally struck down. His body was mutilated, and his head was severed by Shimr ibn Dhil-Jawshan. The heavens wept, and the earth trembled as the purest blood in the world was spilled.
The tents of Hussain’s family were looted, the women and children — including **Lady Zainab (S.A)** and **Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (A.S)** — were taken captive. Yet their patience, strength, and message would carry the legacy of Karbala to the world. Ashura was a day of pain, but also of eternal light. The blood of Karbala did not drown the message of Islam; it revived it. The sacrifice of Imam Hussain (A.S) became a timeless symbol of standing against oppression, and his legacy lives in every heart that values truth, justice, and dignity.
As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
