Democrat policies raised prices that hurt seniors

Rep. Jason Smith: Democrats were in deep denial about how their policies led to terrible price increases that severely impacted Americans, especially senior citizens.

They said it was transitory. They said it was because of the war in Ukraine. They said it was price gouging.

They blamed everyone but the Democrats in power, and that denial even led them to take credit for an automatic cost-of-living adjustment. But that adjustment ended up pushing seniors into higher tax brackets, resulting in them having to pay taxes on benefits they had never been taxed on before.

So once again, Republicans are cleaning up that mess. President Trump promised tax relief for seniors, and with that big, beautiful bill, Republicans are delivering.

In fact, we’re going beyond what many Americans expected, offsetting the tax burden for seniors with an additional guaranteed $4,000 deduction for Americans over 65, covering an even broader income range — and not even limiting it solely to Social Security."
