Bomb Rush Cyberfunk chapter 1 - The Franks of Versum Hill & Police Trouble

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is an action-adventure game developed and published by Team Reptile. The player controls a member of a graffiti Writer gang called Bomb Rush Crew as they use boostpacks traversing around New Amsterdam, paint graffiti, collect beats, combo tricks and facing authority to stake their claim to the sprawling metropolis of New Amsterdam. The game was first released in Japan on Switch on 18 August 2023 and released worldwide for Linux, macOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on the same day afterward.

The game's gameplay bear similarity to Jet Set Radio with the exception of an option to switch between inline skates, skateboards, and BMX with each has different hidden functions, Reputation points (Shortened as REP) which can be gained by replacing other gang's graffiti with theirs, and access to flip phone which the player can use to access available sequence for the graffities they have collected after completing a mission, music for background the player has collected so far (Some of them are found in hard-to-reach platform) which can be manually picked and turned on or off from Red's phone, access to camera with the filter option and switch point of view between front or self (The camer's POV depends on the character's animation while holding the phone) and gallery with the option to view the captured photo in full screen and delete photos. Player gained access to boostpack at the beginning of the game which can help the player reach hard-to-reach platforms with correct timing. Boostpack fuel meter can be replenished by hitting vending machines and dumpsters which will spit out some fuel orbs for the player to collect. Player character also regenerates health over time if they are hurt (By cops, falling, unpassable wall hazard or DJ Cyber's disc during his boss battle).

Unlike Jet Set Radio's combo system, the game's combo can only be increased by leaning left or right before the player character hit a corner while grinding or wallride. The player can also use the boostpack to gain a large amount point multiplied by the player's current combo at the cost of some fuel which is useful for outscoring rival gang in Crew Battle.

Arriving at Versum Hill, a barricade made of broken wall pieces and heads of basketball hoop had been built in the middle of the road by the Franks. Tryce suggested that they split and search for their hideout. The barricade may be built on the road, but you can actually pass through it as there is a gap on the right of the red gate rail that stops right in front of the barricade wall. First thing to do at the other side of the barricade is tagging the graffiti done by the Franks with yours which causes one of them to approach Red and intimidate him for tagging their turf and called him "Toy" (Rookie graffiti writer) before going back to their turf. Entering the area behind the barricade by sliding under its gap and head to the area on the right, there is only one Frank patrolling the area and the only way to drag all the members out is by getting enough REP from tagging their graffities. Once enough graffities tagged, members of the Franks will appear one by one each on different location. The first Frank you see is standing between two rails (One to the left and one to the right) and he will challenge you to do X8 combo in just one rail, the second Frank stands in front of the rail near the tap dance checkered floor for gathering members for you to choose and switch with the current one and he challenged you to do wallride in the same manner he did, while the last one stand near his own tag and challenge you to do manual technique until you reach the same area where you meet the first Frank (This last part had me watched the Frank demonstrate twice to finally understand how to do it but even so...I need a while to get used to the new trick execution).

When you successfully beat the challenge from all three of them, they will retreat to the basketball court and now.... we are treated to a new enemy: the Police. These polices come at you with baton and Red must walk on barefoot in order to manually attack these officers. Second trick button does the cartwheel attack, third trick button does the low kick attack, and first trick button does the high kick alone and when combined with other trick button...will make your current character to kick and fling the police in front of him or her far away. With the right timing while your character sends the police flying, you can draw Graffiti on them which is instant kill for them. Never mind that though as we need to go after the Franks first. Quest for memories comes first.
