Gamera the Invincible (1966)

An Americanized version of the 1965 Japanese kaiju film Gamera, the Giant Monster. The film follows the emergence of Gamera, a massive, fire-breathing, flying turtle awakened by an atomic bomb explosion in the Arctic. As the creature rampages through Japan, military forces struggle to stop it. Scientists devise a bold plan to trap and launch Gamera into space using a giant rocket. The film blends monster mayhem with Cold War tensions and environmental themes, and was heavily re-edited with new American scenes for its U.S. release.
