Sweet Baby Charlie (1963)

Three schoolteachers on their way to a Dodgers game have car trouble—and stumble into the path of Charlie Tibbs, a deranged, gun-wielding psychopath with a semi-mute girlfriend. What ensues is a brutal, real-time hostage nightmare as Charlie toys with his captives, subjecting them to psychological and physical torment. The film is chillingly effective thanks to Arch Hall Jr.'s unhinged performance and stark cinematography by Vilmos Zsigmond.
