Law enforcement give update on active shooter near Canfield Mountain in Coeur d'Alene - June 29, 2025

Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a reported active shooter incident in Coeur d'Alene on Sunday afternoon.
Coeur d'Alene police and fire crews and the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office are on the scene near Canfield Mountain.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said crews with the Kootenai County Fire and Rescue responded to a wildfire at Canfield Mountain around 1:30 p.m. The sheriff's office said during a press conference that someone then shot at the responding firefighters.
2 people are confirmed dead as of Sunday at 4:30 p.m. The sheriff's office said both people who died are believed to be fire personnel.
