"Do you have a nanny or other domestic worker? You might not know how to help them right now as ICE raids continue in Los Angeles. There is a lot of fear and uncertainty, which is why we spoke with the nonprofit domestic employers organization Hand in Hand to give you some answers.

First, know your rights. Remember that ICE cannot enter your home without a warrant signed by a judge, unless you give them permission. And make sure your employees also know their rights. They have the right to remain silent and to contact an attorney.

Minimize risks where you can. Many nannies are taking a big risk by going to work right now. Consider offering them paid leave. And if you can’t, maybe you can walk them to the bus stop or pay for a taxi so they can get to work safely. And don’t forget: domestic workers are entitled to five paid sick days.

Be flexible. A nanny might not feel comfortable taking your child on their usual outings to the park or library. Talk to them about what they need to feel safe. Start the conversation. Nannies may not feel comfortable asking for what they need, so don’t be afraid to ask.

If you don’t know your nanny’s immigration status, don’t ask. But don’t be afraid to tell them how you feel about what’s happening. That can give them the confidence to trust you later on."

The Los Angeles Times is giving advice to people who have hired illegal immigrants as domestic workers on how to hide them from ICE. It’s incredible that a media outlet — in this case, the LA Times — would publish this kind of guidance. Could it be a crime for a media outlet to give tips on how to hide someone who has broken the law? How is it possible they do this openly and with no respect for the law or institutions like ICE?

Why not instead encourage people to hire individuals with legal status, those who have work permits, or American citizens?

The far left knows no limits — they don’t care about respecting the law, let alone ICE.
