(12/18/2016) Somewhere along the line, the modern dude-bro-man decided it was totally acceptable—almost fashionable—to broadcast his own insecurities to the world. And not in the obvious way. No, it starts subtle. A passive jab. A snide comment online. A “funny” meme that isn’t really funny at all.

This old mini-essay/take explores The Insecurities of the False Man, a blog-esh I originally wrote back in 2016—still relevant today, maybe even more. Here I dive into the social dynamics of performative masculinity, insecurity disguised as dominance, and how weak the social media tough guys parade around trying to convince everyone—including themselves—that they're "Alpha." It’s that guy who stalks his girlfriend’s friend list like it’s a side hustle. The dude who throws out passive-aggressive comments in public spaces thinking it earns him stripes. The one who flexes about being a fighter because he did wrestling for four weeks in high school… and quit.

This isn’t a rant about being “Alpha.” In fact, it’s about how the loudest ones screaming they are… rarely are. It’s about recognizing the red flags—the grown men who act like middle school bullies but don’t even realize the joke is on them. It’s about the body of work. The consistency. The grind. 24/7/365. You don’t have to announce you’re built different—you just are.

There’s no point in arguing with these types. You don’t win. Because they’re not trying to win. They're trying to drag you down with them. Misery loves company. So, the answer is simple. You walk. You leave the trash right where it belongs—on the curb with the rest of raccoons. This isn’t about fear. This isn’t about confrontation. It’s about understanding your own value and refusing to validate anyone operating from insecurity masked as bravado wanting your reaction to give themselves credibility.
