(6/14/2016) What happens when someone finally stops, turns around, and really looks at the life they’ve been living? Reflection(s) is a reflection on one’s self. 2016 I took a deep dive into a long, unflinching look at the past. This isn’t nostalgia. This isn’t clinging to what was. This is an honest unpacking of how the choices made—both consciously and unconsciously—stacked up to become the life of today.

A sort of spiritual companion to The Inevitability of Change, but it’s also something more raw, more direct. The choices they made. The roads taken—and the ones they didn’t even know were there.
The slow erosion of childhood confidence, the creeping realization that the world isn’t always going to bend to one’s will, and how easy it is to mistake wants for needs when no one teaches them the difference. No cries for sympathy. A record, a snapshot. A document of a life that coasted far longer than should have been allowed, and a reckoning with what happens when someone finally admits that coasting isn’t living.

All the misfires and blind side spots. The quiet disappointments that never got loud enough to truly scare any one of them into change—even now. From selling off one’s past of things to confronting the uncomfortable truth that the things owned don’t define them. Stuck in a version of life that no longer fits. Ever wondered how it got to this point—and more importantly—what comes next? The past may be written, but the future… is still up for negotiation.
