Rifle Build and Load Development - Part 2: Platform Test

The Weatherby Vanguard is assembled and the Carbon Six barrel is breaking in nicely. Today, we test the whole platform and start dialing it in. We shoot a simplified charge ladder test to verify we're in the right zone with our 212 ELD-X over H4350 load, as well as a seating depth test for initial fine tuning. We also run a tall target test to verify the Leupold 2-10 VX-5HD is level and tracking perfectly. As a bonus, the final shot is a cold bore hit at 700+ yards from this light-weight heavy hitting hunting rifle.

Hornady claims the 212g ELD-X expands at velocities as low as 1600fps - article link: https://static.hornady.media/site/hornady/files/resources/ELD-X_ELD-Match_Technical_Details.pdf#:~:text=The%20new%20Hornady%20ELD%2DX%E2%84%A2%20hunting%20bullets%20are,safe%20initial%20velocities%20down%20to%20~1600%20fps.
In this rifle, that would be nearly 800 yards with a cartridge many consider "too old to hunt."
