During the pandemic all over the world, we witnessed denial of early treatment, loss of shared decision making, and a stripping of personal autonomy for hospitalized patients with acute COVID-19. This should be a wake up call for civil libertarians and human rights advocates. If it can happen once, it could be even worse next time.
