How to use Pictos and Luminas in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - The complete beginners guide for people not familiar with RPGs and/or are new to gaming.

The in game explanation doesn't really cover what you need to know or how these things work, especially if you haven't played Turn-Based games, RPG games, or Final Fantasy style games.

COE 33 will be a lot more fun once you understand how Pictos can give you stats (more health, defense, speed, etc...) and passives (I call them augments or powers), and Luminas can give you just the powers without the stat boost.

If you need more defense so you can absorb more damage, use a Pictos that gives you defense.

If the enemy is playing 2, 3, 4 times in a row, try a Picto that gives you tons of speed.

If you want to heal yourself while also healing the party (other characters), use a Lumina (or the full Pictos if you like the stats)

If you want to get 1 AP when the battle starts, again, use a Lumina or the full Pictos if you like the stats.

Each character can equip 3 Pictos and you can switch them out whenever you want.

There is no limit to the amount of Luminas you can equip per character, you're only limited by the amount of Lumina Points each character has available.

By thinking it through and combining the right Pictos and Luminas you can create powerful characters that make battles easier and more fun. And you'll need certain Pictos and Luminas for some of the optional fights like SPRONG.

You'll find Pictos (which include the Lumina) while exploring, beating enemies, opening Paint Cages, and at Merchants. There's some really great ones out there, so have fun collecting them and trying them out.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is an awesome game, everyone should check it out - even if you're not use to Turn-Based RPGs or didn't like them in the past. This is different. And understanding Pictos and Luminas will make your experience even better 👍
