6th Muharram Dastan-e-Karbala The Journey of Truth
Asslamoalaikum, The tragedy of Karbala is one of the most heart-wrenching and powerful chapters in Islamic history. Occurring in the sacred month of Muharram, this historic event marks the ultimate sacrifice of Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), who stood fearlessly against tyranny and injustice. On the plains of Karbala, in 61 AH (680 CE), Imam Hussain, along with his family and a small group of loyal companions, faced the brutal army of Yazid. Denied water, surrounded by enemies, and offered no escape, they chose martyrdom over surrender, preserving the values of truth, justice, and faith.
This video takes you through the sorrowful yet inspiring journey of Karbala—each day of Muharram carrying profound pain and unmatched bravery. From the departure of Imam Hussain from Madinah to the heart-shaking events of Ashura, we honor the legacy of those who gave their lives for Islam.
So sisters brothers friends and elders today we will be the described events of 6th Muharram in this video.
On the 6th of Muharram, the situation in Karbala became increasingly dire for Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions. The army of Yazid continued to grow in number and cruelty, as more reinforcements from Kufa arrived under the command of various tribal leaders. Obaidullah ibn Ziyad, the governor of Kufa and the mastermind behind the oppression, sent letters to tribal chiefs urging them to show their loyalty to the Umayyad regime by joining the siege against Hussain (A.S). Responding to these orders, thousands of soldiers continued to pour into the desert plain of Karbala, encircling the camp of the Prophet’s grandson. It is reported that by this day, the number of Yazid’s forces had reached around **30,000 troops**, while Imam Hussain (A.S) had only **72 loyal companions**, including his family members.
The purpose of such a massive army was not just to defeat Hussain (A.S) militarily but to pressure him psychologically. The enemy commanders wanted to break his spirit and force him into submission without battle. They believed that isolating him, cutting off his resources, and intimidating his companions would cause him to surrender. But they misunderstood the strength of Hussain’s resolve and the righteousness of his mission. Hussain (A.S) had not come to Karbala to bow before tyranny; he came to stand against it even if it meant sacrificing everything.
On the 6th of Muharram, **the threat of water blockade** became a painful reality. Though the complete sealing of the Euphrates River occurred on the 7th, by this day, **the pressure on water access had already begun**. The enemy soldiers placed guards on key points along the riverbank, and access for Hussain’s camp was becoming more difficult with each passing hour. The intense heat of the desert, combined with the shortage of water, began to take a toll, especially on the children. Mothers tried to calm their thirsty children with what little water they had left, and Imam Hussain (A.S) and his brother Abbas (A.S) made multiple attempts to negotiate or fetch water, but the enemy showed no mercy.
Despite the hardships, **the spiritual strength of Hussain’s camp grew even stronger**. The companions of Imam Hussain (A.S) remained firm in their allegiance. These were not ordinary men — they were the most loyal and devout followers who had chosen to stand beside the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in his time of greatest need. Many among them were scholars, warriors, and worshippers who knew that their martyrdom in this cause would elevate them to the highest ranks of Paradise. The Qur’an says:
**“Do not think of those who are killed in the way of Allah as dead. Rather, they are alive with their Lord, receiving provision.”**
— *(Surah Aali Imran, 3:169)*
This verse reflected the spirit that prevailed among the supporters of Hussain (A.S).
Imam Hussain (A.S), aware of the approaching danger, spent his time in prayer, supplication, and preparing his family spiritually. He also continued to appeal to the enemy soldiers with compassion and wisdom. He reminded them of who he was — the grandson of their beloved Prophet, the son of Fatimah (S.A), and the rightful guide of the Ummah. He urged them not to be fooled by the promises of Yazid and warned them of the consequences of standing against truth and justice. Some among the enemy ranks began to feel uneasy. A few even defected quietly, unable to bear the shame of standing against the Prophet’s household.
**Lady Zainab (S.A)** continued her role as the pillar of strength among the women and children. She consoled them, prayed with them, and prepared them for the days ahead. The children, though young, began to understand the gravity of the situation. Their innocent faces bore the marks of thirst and exhaustion, yet they remained resilient in the face of growing hardship.
As the sun set on the 6th of Muharram, the desert sky turned crimson, as if foreshadowing the bloodshed that was to come. The silence of the night was interrupted only by the prayers from Hussain’s camp and the chilling movements of the enemy soldiers. It was clear that the battle was drawing near. But in the heart of that small camp, faith, truth, and courage continued to burn like an eternal flame, untouched by the surrounding darkness. The 6th of Muharram marked not just a day of tightening siege, but a deepening of conviction and a final phase of spiritual preparation for the ultimate sacrifice.
As we remember the heartbreaking events of Karbala, let us not only remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions, but also strive to embody their values ??of truth, justice, and unwavering faith. Their legacy is a timeless reminder that standing up against oppression is the duty of every believer. May their courage inspire us to live with dignity and righteousness. Amen.
